Heritage Minis at the International MINI Meeting 2019

The International Mini Meeting took place in the English city of Bristol in August and was a great chance to showcase the last 60 years of MINI including the first classic Mini ever built.

International MINI Meeting events bring together people from all walks of life who share a love of creativity, fun, adventure and of course unique cars, powerful engines and innovative design. The International Mini Meeting (IMM) was launched in 1978 by German fans of the classic Mini. Since then, it has developed into the world’s biggest annual event for MINI enthusiasts. With vehicles on show, a spare-parts and accessories market, driving activities including car races and mini owner club competitions, bringing a festival atmosphere and confirming that the MINI community certainly know how to celebrate. And with 2019 being the anniversary year for the heritage brand – this year’s meeting gave them plenty of reason to.

No journey was too far for the fans with many travelling hundreds or even thousands of kilometres in their own vehicles. Car enthusiasts brought their new MINIs, classic Minis Morris, vintage Mini sports cars, and all variations of Mini Cooper, Clubman and Countryman to participate in events across the 5-day festival. The Mini Clubman celebrates its 50th anniversary this year too and all generation models were out in force to join the IMM party. With this year’s event also featuring the first classic Mini ever built, the MINI 60 Years Edition and the first all-electric MINI, there was quite the collection on show.

2019 is an occasion for MINI to look back while at the same time, use their 60 year milestone as a springboard into the new era. The MINI 60 Years Edition has been available for a few months now and once again this model highlights the long tradition of the brand alongside its British heritage. It complements the traditional roots of Mini while also bringing in the technology, modern design and the performance that MINI has today.

This year’s meeting also gave the MINI Community their first opportunity to get to know the latest model; the all-electric MINI Cooper SE 3-Door Hatch. Being the first all-electric model of the brand, this car gives drivers the 100% go-cart feeling with 0% emissions.

As 2019 continues, MINI continue to celebrate the last 60 years and we can’t wait to see what the next few years will bring to the MINI Brand.
